Fujian province, China
Ming dynasty (1368 to 1644 AD)
PAIR of antique stone pillar bases from the Ming dynasty, from two wooden pillars standing guard next to a doorway or gate. Beautifully weathered, decorative etchings can still be seen on the sides of the top and middle. It has a drum-shaped top, a hexagonal middle part and a square shaped base. Because they are hard stone, you can place them outside: use as beautiful ornaments in the garden or if you want as small garden seats or side table.
